In my teen years, I was infamous for throwing my chewing gum out anywhere carelessly. That was till I nearly ruined a pair of $300 Air Jordans that I had bought myself. That was the moment when I switched to breathe mints as it can be disposed of in the just receptacles.

However, I never forgot that incident with those precious Air Jordans. So, I decided to look for the most effective way to damage control trying to remove that nasty gum sticking on them.

If the chewing gum is still soft, to better remove it, it must be hardened first.

1 – Hardening chewing gum

– Freezer
– Enclose the shoe in a plastic bag, which you put for one hour in the freezer.

– Freezing
– Apply chewing gum to any freezer or plastic bag filled with ice cubes.

2- Spatula

Using a plastic spatula or a tablespoon scrape the chewing gum.

Remove the leftover chewing gum

3 – Acetone

Rub the sole with a piece of paper towel or cotton ball wet with acetone

4 – Air blower

Use a compressed air blower (such as the one used for computer dust removal)

5 – The coarse side of a sponge

Scrape the chewing gum with the abrasive side of a sponge

6 – Quack grass brush

Rub the sole with a stiff brush

7 – Nail polish remover

Clean the sole with a paper towel soaked in nail polish remover

8 – Iron spatula

To remove chewing gum on:
